Location:  Coleg Gwent Studio

Time: 09:30 – 12:30

Walking boots, appropriate clothes, camera: Canon 5D mark IV, additional lenses, tripod, lighting equipment, flash, memory cards (Formatted), battery charger, extra batteries.

I left the house with everything I need including a box of eggs, a hairdryer, and biscuits.  Needing two cups of tea, coffee and a plate I went to the café within the college to borrow them.  The studio had a product table where I shot the hairdryer and a cup of tea and biscuits. I used a tripod for the hairdryer and cup and tea and biscuits shot but handheld on the other image I took. There were two soft boxes, a snoot light and an oblong softbox used throughout the shoots including the walking on eggs shells.  This was shot on the floor, I asked someone to assist me, walking across the eggshells to capture my shot.

This image was taken in a warehouse with a white cardboard box as a backdrop and one underneath the chessboard to give height.  The chess pieces were placed so that the queen and the king were challenging each other.  No flash was used.  The settings were appropriate for the shoot.  In total it would take twenty minutes. It was as a trip.

Steppingstones – Ogmore Castle

Ogmore ripple effect

The shoot was located by the sea at Ogmore by the shoreline.

Using a tripod and using long exposure settings I was to create a still movement against the rocks.  It took a few attempts to do this. The weather was favourable and I achieved the desired effect I wanted.

The ripples in the water were a thought I had whilst I was there. My husband would throw stones in to make the ripples in the water and I would take the shot required.  I would have liked the water to be deeper however I used my surroundings to save time.
