What Was Expected In Ths Module
How Did You Do It?
I visited various locations around the United Kingdom photographing veteran and ancient trees. Due to their age, these trees are irreplaceable. They have been standing tall for hundreds if not thousands of years, witnessing historical events. They are part of the fabric of our landscape and in many cases go unnoticed seen as a haven for wildlife.
Why You Did It
I wanted to produce something where my images would be pleasing to the eye of the viewer. It would only become apparent after reading my summary about the project how just viewing an image can be interpreted differently by individuals. Using current issues within the world such as Climate Change and using trees as my subject enabled me to incorporate not only raw emotions but landscapes and elements. I did not just manage to show how raw could be visual but also from a psychological way and how this can affect people too.
What Was Your Contribution To The Exhibition?
At the beginning of the project, I made contributions within class time. These included, where the exhibition could possibly be, who to invite and a chosen word for the project. I offered to take headshots of students in the campus photographic studio in order to make some money to fund the exhibition. This was supposed to go into a pot of money which would be pooled together to pay for the exhibition venue, amongst other costs. However, because of some issues amongst the students in the class, I took a step back and I felt as though I did not know where I belonged in the whole process. As much as I wanted to be involved, I felt that I was being pushed out.
About a month before the exhibition, there was a class meeting with my tutor and there were certain things that needed to be addressed. These included an exhibition plan and an invitation to be written. I offered to write the invitation when Pete requested a volunteer.
The invite was sent to Pete and a list had been made of people who were to receive it through students that had taken on the role. This was the responsibility of another member of the group who subsequently left, this task was then taken over by another member of the group. A number of influential people were, from what I understood, going to be invited to the launch night on 3rd March 2022. At a later stage closer to that date in question, we were told that we could send the invitation out ourselves to people we would like to attend.
